Dear Fellow NECINA Members and Friends:
On behalf of the management team of year 2011-2012, I would like to welcome you to the 16th year of NECINA. Since it was founded in 1996, NECINA has committed to its mission statements to
- promote cutting edge technologies
- foster entrepreneurship
- maximize global reach.
Through technology conferences, seminars, business plan contests and other social events, NECINA has attracted hundreds members. They are the professionals who want move ahead faster in their careers. Some of them dream of starting up their own business. They come to NECINA to associate themselves with the right people that can help and support them to fulfill their pursuits. In NECINA, they find the mentors who provide invaluable advices; they find fellows and partners in their endeavors.
In this year, we will keep the momentum and continue our core value to provide high quality technical conferences and Special Interest Group seminars. We will enhance our role as a bridge between North American and the Greater China area. In the meanwhile, we will explore new frontiers to move our organization to the next level. Our PR and Marketing team will leverage the social networking media to build up stronger connection with NECINA members and the communities, to raise NECINA's awareness. Our web team will continue to improve our website from a static bulletin board to a dynamic bi-direction information flow channel between NECINA and the members. We are also seeking new formats of events to provide our members with more real and tangible hands-on sessions. The basic idea is not to just being a cheer league but to get into the game. Your ideas and initiatives will be welcome.
Our dedicated management team is what makes all the NECINA achievements possible. They all have great hearts and want to make difference. This year we have several younger generation officers taking over major leading roles. Through the volunteer work, they grow their own professional skills in communication, planning, coordination and team work. Come to join our staff team and you will learn more.
We welcome new members. We welcome new volunteers. We welcome new ideas.

New England Chinese Information & Networking Association (NECINA), a non-profit and non-political organization, was founded in March 1996 by a group of Chinese professionals from network computing industries. Originally served the needs of professionals to advocate leading edge technologies and new business opportunities in these areas, it has now grown to become one of the best-run professional organizations in New England area covering diverse industries including software, telecommunications, networking, bio-informatics, venture capital, finance, and law.
Our Mission
- To serve as a platform for entrepreneurship and leadership development by systematically sharing leading edging technologies and best business practices.
- To maximize Chinese Americans contribution to the information-centric high technology industries by offering the highest quality educational programs, conferences, seminars, and other activities around advanced technologies, emerging business opportunities, and new management techniques.
- To serve as a unique bridge for American and Far East technology companies to proactively exchange information, develop mutual understanding, and create business opportunities.
Team Bio
Daryl Luk currently serves as Director of Production Applications Development in PTC (www.ptc.com), formally known as Parametric Technology Corp, one of the largest software companies in Massachusetts, USA. With more than 18 years of enterprise and engineering software development and management experiences, Daryl has been in charge of 6 new commercial software products development in PTC‘s product family that generates US$1B in annual revenue.
Daryl came from Hong Kong, holds a Mechanical Engineering Bachelor‘s degree from Taiwan National Chung Kung University and a Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University. Daryl has published several robotics technical papers in international journals.
Daryl was NECINA‘s President in 2005-2006. Prior to that, he served as Vice President in 2004-2005 and the chair of both NECINA eBusiness Special Interest Group and RFID Action Group.
In 2006, Daryl was appointed by the Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney to be a member of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission to advise the Governor on matters related to Asian American affairs. Currently Daryl serves as a member in the Asian American Commission‘s Economic Development Committee.
In 2007, Daryl co-founded Red Frogs Technologies which offers RFID based event management solution.

History
New England Chinese Information and Networking Association (NECINA), a non-profit and non-political organization, was founded in March 1996 by a group of Chinese professionals from network computing industries who recognized the need to advocate leading edge technologies and new business opportunities. NECINA held its official opening ceremony in June 1996.
The Board of Directors is NECINA governing body. The Directors are elected by members and serve 3-year terms. In addition, the executive officers on the management team administer NECINA day-to-day activities.
Today, NECINA has grown to be one of the best-run hi-tech professional organizations in the New England area. NECINA has its reach to thousands of people with members covering diverse industries such as software, telecommunications, networking, bioinformatics, venture capital, finance, and law. NECINA Board of directors and members have also created many highly successful enterprises such as Cascade Communications, Arris Networks, ArrowPoint Communications, Sycamore Networks, Biscom, Metrobility, Axis Semincontactor, Azuki Systems, 8D World etc.

Internal Organization
Executive Board of Directors is the governing body of NECINA. The Board of Directors invites industry leaders and experts to serve as Advisors. NECINA management team includes President, Vice President, General Manager, Chief Financial Officer, Legal Counsel, Treasurer, Secretary, and other Officers responsible for Events, Communications, Membership, Web, and General Affairs.
In addition, NECINA supports various Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that address technical and business interests in specific areas.
